Job Description:
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cassandra DBA to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our mission-critical applications powered by Cassandra Server. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Cassandra deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and optimize Apache Cassandra (or similar NoSQL) clusters—installation, configuration, and ongoing performance tuning.
Support data ingestion pipelines: monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth data flow across distributed sources
Perform regular backups, snapshots, and recovery; manage restore procedures and document DR protocols
Collaborate with Dev/Ops teams to integrate Cassandra environments into CI/CD, automation, and monitoring frameworks.
Proactively monitor cluster health—disk usage, latency, error logs—and perform maintenance tasks like compaction, repair, and cleanup.
Diagnose operational issues; plan for capacity and scalability as data volumes grow.
Required / Preferred Skills:
Proven experience as a Cassandra DBA or NoSQL DBA in production—handling backup/restore, performance tuning, troubleshooting.
Familiarity with distributed data systems, cluster management, data replication, and partitioning strategies.
Comfortable with Linux environments, shell scripting, and basic automation.
Knowledge of DevOps practices: familiarity with tools like Ansible, Terraform, and monitoring dashboards (e.g. Prometheus).
Good communication skills and ability to liaise with engineering teams on schema design, data modeling, and performance considerations.
